Elvy Reveals Her Recipe for Fresh Cherry Pie

Instructions:

Step 1 – Get a pie cherry sapling
Step 2 – Plant it in your back yard
Step 3 – Wait
Step 4 – When offending oak trees shade out your cherry tree, cut them down.
Step 5 – Wait
After going through these steps I had enough cherries this year for us and the birds, and that’s saying something. If it’s at all possible, try it. Pie cherries are sour, and unlike many fruit trees, you only need one and lots of sunshine for a bumper crop like mine this year.
The flavor of fresh cherries is unlike any pie you’ve ever had. Unbelievably good, but they exist in a perfect state of picking for only a week, and then it’s over.
Much like our blog. Brief, yet wonderful.

The recipe is off the box of instant tapioca, with a teaspoon of vanilla added.
My last photo is of my reading spot on the deck. I hope we all have a summer as nice as this.

  1. Since pie cherries are sour, would you say this recipe is a little bitter-sweet? Thanks for all the recipes, Elvy! And feel free to share more over on the fb page. Or send ’em to me and I’ll post ’em for ya’. It’s been great fun and the calories you’ve shared will be with us almost as long as the memories, LOL.

  2. THIS WAS THE BEST CHERRY PIE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY MOUTH AND TUMMY. MAN I SURE AM A VERY LUCKY MAN TO BE MARRIED TO ONE OF THE BEST COOKS IN THE WORLD.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH
    ALWAYS LOVE YOU
    MICHAEL

    • I’m not the least bit jealous, Michael. Really. I’m not. Excuse me while I go eat a packaged granola bar, or something. 🙂
Elvy – love this recipe. There’s not a chance in hell I’ll actually do it, which means one less temptation. 🙂
